So last May I finally decided to make the chop and cut off my tailbone length hair so I could style it in a 1940's/1950's style. After months of me ogling @neciashairstyling on Instagram I decided that the 8 hour round trip was worth it and finally booked an appointment.
As you can see below I was in for a pretty big tansformation!

Once I arrived at Sarah's I was greeted by her two adorable sausage dogs and a beaming smile (despite being 20 mins late). Sarah recommended a longer horseshoe cut (her take on a middy cut) to give my hair some lovely shaping when curled. It was a bit daunting cutting off so much but the minute Sara's shears were cutting through those ponytails I knew I was making the best decision i'd ever made (OK so maybe a slight exaggeration on my part but you have no idea how excited I was!!!).

Sarah set my hair in pin-curls to give me a Lauren Bacall-esque pageboy style which I absolutely loved. I honestly mourn how this wasn't a permanent possibility because I will never be able to get anywhere near this level of loveliness. She is honestly the best. The whole experience was wonderful and I would honestly attempt the 14 hour day just to have this perfection again. I must say I felt like the fanciest person on the coach home that day.

So now I have to try and maintain some sort of retro hair myself which isn't the easiest. I am now frantically practising with sponge rollers and setting lotion to try and improve my skills. The picture of me above was taken a couple of weeks after my haircut enjoying the sunshine. I was worried after having the lovely set given to me by Sarah I would go home and never be able to do anything close but although nowhere near as sleek and perfected at least I can have something I envisaged every day and hopefully with practice things can only get better.
